Activities for Kids
Arts - We picked a few spring crafts for you to try and enjoy.
For the flowers and fish crafts gather some plastic forks, paper plates and fish and have fun creating.
For the butterfly craft use a toilet paper tube, paper, and a variety of any other items to create and decorate a butterfly.
STEM - DIY marshmallow catapults are fun to engineer and make and you can use a wide variety of supplies to create your catapult (pencils, dry pasta noodles, popsicle sticks, sticks, rulers, spoons).

As school districts close and students are asked to stay home, there are ways to continue to engage your youth through virtual lessons. The American Federation of Teachers has a wealth of resources to help with learning at home.
Lemonade Day Registration
Registration for Fort Atkinson's 2nd Annual Lemonade Day opened on Monday, March 2nd. Please visit www.lemonadeday.org/Fort-Atkinson to register your child by Friday, March 13th. We invite BASE parents & families and Fort Atkinson community members to be an active part of a child's participation in Lemonade Day by being a mentor. It is a great opportunity for our BASE families and Fort Atkinson community members to participate in this program. Additional information about Lemonade Day will follow including mentoring sessions, workshops, bank loan day, and more. Lemonade Day in Fort Atkinson is scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd.
When you register by Friday, March 13th, you will reserve materials including a backpack, t-shirt, and entrepreneur workbook. A kickoff event is planned for Wednesday, March 18th, 4:30-6:00pm, at Luther Elementary School where materials can be picked up and Fort Atkinson entrepreneurs will be available to help with the lemonade stand business planning process.
There are opportunities to become a mentor, a Safe Stand Sponsor or volunteer. Participating in Lemonade Day empowers our Fort Atkinson youth to become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs. Visit www.lemonadeday.org/Fort-Atkinson and get involved in Fort Atkinson’s 2nd Annual Lemonade Day!

BASE Lend A Hand-Penny Drive Announcement
BASE is getting ready to make a BIG announcement regarding our Penny Drive that will kick off this Friday, February 14th, 2020. The BASE Lend a Hand Community Service Program will kick off our 8th Annual Penny Drive on Friday, February 14th and we will collect coins and donations through May 2, 2020. Today we received our official approval letter to fundraise for a charity and cause that is very near and dear to the hearts of our BASE kids and staff and we are excited to share it with our friends, families and community. Stay tuned for our announcement on Friday and ways that you can join with us to raise funds. Get ready to help us Lend A Hand and make a difference!
Parents Night Out and Kids Night In
BASE will be open on Friday, February 14th for a special evening event. Parents Night Out & Kids Night In will be open to all kids ages 6+ on Friday, February 14th, 4:00pm-9:00pm, at Luther Elementary School. It’s a special parents night out for Valentines Day. Drop the kids off for an evening with us which will include kids crafts, games, a pasta dinner, and a movie. The suggested donation is $10 or donate hypo allergenic fragrance free wipes packs of 50-100 (not refill packs). BASE Purdy kids wanted to collect donations for a worthy cause for their Lend A Hand community service project and the donations collected for this event will benefit Trudy’s Room.
BASE kids will be enjoying Early Release Day programs and activities at their BASE sites on Friday, February 14th beginning at 11:50am. During the afternoon, we will have bus transportation available for BASE Barrie and BASE Rockwell kids to travel to Luther. BASE Purdy kids will walk to Luther. BASE parents who intend for their child/children to then stay at BASE Luther for the 4:00-9:00pm event must complete the Parents Night Out & Kids Night In RSVP prior to the event. Children who do not participate in BASE are welcome to come to Luther beginning at 4:00pm to enjoy the event. A parent or guardian must complete the Parents Night Out & Kids Night In RSVP prior to the event.
